I have a 97 cavalier and the number 2 cylinder is misfiring, and the engine lite is blinking....I changed both ignition coils and the ignition modual, plugs and wires and still no improvment...I am going to set the $#@!@ thing on fire soon. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Engine light blinking means that there are trouble codes. Get the codes read first before replacing stuff. Take your time and troubleshoot properly, otherwise you'll have an empty wallet AND a messed up car.:naughty:

Could be a fuel injector problem.

if the engine light blinks when the car is running, it means that there is a misfire bad enough to cause the catalytic converter to be destroyed. when i was in college for automotive technology this was one of the big issue we tapped on. we would induced a bad misfire and do all sorts of diagnostics with different tools ranging from spark testers up to osciloscopes. i am not trying to be a know-it-all, just wanted to give my opinion. any way, any books about emissions will give you this info.
