Scale Model World - IPMS UK Nationals - 10th & 11th November 2007

I know it is still 2,5 months away from now, but together with a couple of friends from De Paddock Modelbouw, we're planning to make the trip to Telford this year in November.

Last time I've been to Telford was in 2002 and this year should be my 10th visit to the IPMS Nationals in the UK. Previously held in Stoneleigh, Peterborough and Donington (the venues I visited), they are now for quite some years already in a row in Telford.

It has taken another 5 years since I went because I felt that over the years the number of Auto/Moto scale models, both in contest and what you can find with the traders was not really worth the trip anymore. So, I'm just hoping that it has improved again a little bit since I last went (anyone any feedback regarding this, from more recent shows?)

Anyways, we're gonna enter some models in the competition too and as we're in the UK, we plan to visit the Donington Collection the monday after SMW.

If there are other AF-people planning to go over, maybe we can set up a little meeting/get together there?

I will be attending on the Sunday. Definitely not showing any models though :) Went last year and was a little disappointed with the auto selection. Car and Motorcycle SIG was there and the F1/Motorsports SIG and a new group was declaring themselves as the British Automotive Model Group. Traders were few.. Little Cars, F&F Models and Kit Krazy but again most of the show was aero or military. The show you should aim for is Modelsport in March 2008 at Telford. This is just auto and moto and the traders match. I've heard that even the elusive Hiroboy got an airing this year :naughty:

I will not be able to attend this year, first time in about ten, but I will be in Florida for a friends 40th birthday.
I can recommend it though its a great couple of days out, go look up North West Car and Motorcycle club Paul AKA Gundam1969 will be there, they are having a USA car theme this year following on from the Italian theme last year. They will have some of my completed models ' on loan ' including my recent 2006 Concept Camaro Convertible. Go look them up, say hello from me. :sunglasse

I notice that HLJ will be attending this years show. Nothing to get too excited about though, they wont be trading, just there to discuss wholesale and import enquiries.

I wonder if we put in some orders, they would carry them over in their hand luggage ? Might save on shipping costs :naughty:
