Shock suggestions

What shocks do you guys recommend for the truck in my sig? I don't do much off roading mostly highway driving. Replaced the stockers with the cheap($20) Napa shocks and the ride is terrible! After I hit a bump the truck keeps bouncing until the shock figures out what to do. What is the differnce between Monro, KYB or Rancho? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Will

I put Rancho RSX shocks on my truck and am very happy with them. I drive similar to you ... no off road.

I had Monroe Sensatrac's on my Blazer years back and they were great. I'd like to try something different on my Silverado as the stock ones are starting to get a bit tired. I had Gabriel's on my Audi many years ago but, they were more of a racing shock.

Everyone I've talked to here and around are saying that Rancho or Bilsteins are the way to go.

Bilstein 5125's great shock for a great price.

I replaced the stock shocks that had 100k miles on them with new Bilstein HD shocks like what came on a Z71. Hate 'em!!! They are stiff and bounce and jiggle all over the place.

Yeah that's what it feels like with the cheap ones I have now. The truck never really seems to settle down or find a good rythym going down the road.

I installed KYB MonoMax shocks many years ago and I'm still happy with them. The only shocks I can compare them to are the originals and these are much better.
These are a lot bigger and heavier than the stock shocks or KYB "car" shocks.

I replaced my stock shocks with Rancho RSX. They are a good shock, a little stiff for highway driving, but good at eliminiating the bounce.

I use classic red Koni adjustables for the highway, they last over 200,000 miles. Every 30-50,000 miles you can remove the shocks. grasp the top and bottom tubes and give them a "click" to adjust for wear; they perform like new and you have six clicks before they're done. EXCELLENT handling and tire wear.

List is about $200 each but last year I found a dealer online in San Diego selling them for $91 each. The name was Shox something or other.

Has anyone tried the monroe reflex monotube shocks? I get them for a great price plus a rebate if i buy 4. I was just wondering if they are comparable to the KYB monotube shocks.

I put the edelbrocks on and they bounced all over the road so after one week I brought them back and got the SSV Trailmasters. Go over a bump with them and they settle the truck down quickly, a little stiff but not to bad. I rather have a bit of a stiff ride then to bounce all over the road.

I have a '99 Silverado 1500 4WD shortbox reg. cab. stock
I am replacing the stock shocks and am trying to decide between the Edelbrock IAS 33012 front and 34012 rear vs. the Bilstein F4-BE5-6500-H0 front and F4-BE5-2905-H1 rear

Any suggestions? The Edelbrocks are about $80 higher for the 4

This is weird...when I first posted I had just put a set of shocks on my 2000 and didn't like them. Now it's time to put shocks on my '05 and someone resurrected this tread so now I don't have to hunt for it.
