Just bought an '08 Lancer ES...

Hey all, as the title says...I just bought a red 2008 Lancer ES. I'm looking to upgrade it (of course). I done a couple of google searches and haven't come up with any sites that really sell parts....but here's what I'm planning to do as soon as I can afford it. (not necessarily in this order)

-=Turbocharge it w/ nice big shiny FMIC to go behind the big pretty grill
-=CF hood with some type of vents, not sure what styling
-=Evo style rear spoiler (which is one reason I didn't get the GTS cause I
don't like that spoiler)
-=Exhaust/Intake

These are the first things that come to mind...anyone have a modded 08 that I can see for cool ideas?


(yes, my username is 3000-G_T_S_L b/c I first joined AF.com when I owned a white 99 3000GT SL, I sold it and eventually bought a 92 green VR4, the engine spun a bearing about 4 months ago, so I bought a new 2006 katana 600cc and got hit on it 2 days after I rode it off the lot....SO I needed a new car and really like the new lancer....and viola :)

Wow man, thats awesome. Sucks somebody hit ya on your bike though... I take it the bike was totaled?

Also, good luck finding any other members on here with an 08 yet. I have noticed the Lancer section is very slow, which surprised me...

OK, I've found one website so far...so for sharing purposes incase someone else is looking for 2008 Lancer parts... check out Road Race Motorsports (http://www.roadracemotorsports.com).

I also read that they are currently testing a turbo for the new Lancers and will be selling them soon. Multiple users out of the forums I found the site in say that RRM's intake does wonders for the car. I LOVE the carbon fiber hood they sell, and I'm also eyeballing the ECU they sell. Someone please post if you find other places selling parts. Enjoy! :)

forgive me for being frank but.........why bother fixing up a 2008 lancer when it will only pale in comparison to the lancer evo x that will be following it. just a waste of money in my opinion. but i will give you this.........the new lancer does look very sexy but the evo x will only look sexier and BE sexier

Thats an interesting point you bring up martinez205. In fact, you are correct...why bother fixing up something...so on and so forth...well, a few reasons come to mind. uhm...considering my recent lack of a vehicle I needed one kinda asap...I like the new lancer and didn't want to pass up a chance to get one. "Why not get the evo x?" Because, all the while the evo x will be a wonderful work of art...I simply do not need or want EVERYTHING the evo x has to offer...plus...I'm REALLY not looking to spend that much or wait that long. I already own a 92 3000gt vr4 that I will get running again, plus the mods I've put into it...I really don't need another top of the line production car. Yes, I will be modding my Lancer...but only slightly. My lancer won't be the beast in my garage, the vr4 will...however that doesn't mean I can't make it sexIER and fastER. heh ;)

But with all that said, no doubts about it, the evo x will be better than my turbo'd lancer almost no matter what I do....unless I had an unlimited supply of funding...thats another story...life is but a dream ~Ciao

Yeah, theres no sense in building two race cars unless you can afford it and have nothing better to spend the money on... I have one built car so whatever else I drive will be mostly stock with a few exceptions. Just so long as my daily driver always stays reliable. I personally wouldn't turbo the lancer if its just my daily driver. DSM guys learn the hard way about turbo vehicles being quite unreliable. lol

Indeed... I haven't driven mine in over a year and a half but I still anxiously await it to hit the streets again because I know how much fun it is to drive. Even more so next time since the power will be more than doubled. lol :wink:

Im gonna get a lancer soon too. Even for a chick this V4 a lil too slow for my taste, but I was a sucker for the cool toys they had to offer. what can I do do get more HP out of this car if I do buy? anywhere around 180hp sounds good too me... what can I do to get it around there? oh and cant afford da evo, cant drive stick.. since everyone seems to just say GET AN EVO!

oh and how much did you pay for your lancer? they are trying to seel it to me for a lil more then msrp so like aroun 23,000. which seems RIDICULOUS for a V4!!! I think I can get it for 21,000. what your opinion?

hey.. new to this form.. usually on a different one.. not sure if im allowed to say it but w/e.. yeah i have the 2008 Lancer Gts 2008.. yeah you would have paid wayy over the price i paid if you give up 22000+ i got the base gts and installed an after market dvd/nav system for half the price the mitsu dealers charge.. also i have a RRM short ram intake.. I love it at first it was really loud, but since the ecu learns and adapts to your driving habits and changes to the car, it has become amazing.... there arn't enough after market parts out yet but some people are talking about mitsu offering a turbo for the base lancer. And for people that say to buy the evo x.... F that.. sorry but i dont want to be in debt for the rest of my life considering that the base lancer and the evo X share the same engine.. and plus if i bought an evo X i would be doing this > :banghead: b/c the insurance would kill me if not the payments....

Ouch, that is majorly brutal dude... That is why I went the cheap old DSM route over an EVO. lol... I don't owe a penny on it. :wink:

well, it's cuz i'm 19, a reckless driving charge (95 in a 65 in an '87 thunderbird lol little broad hauls ass for something so old I tell you that) and one speeding ticket (80 in a 65)
