new member, first project completed...comments/advice welcome!

Hi Guys,

I have a 1:1 version of this model, and I really wanted to make a kit for it. I've never done anything like this before, but after reading in depth into the information on this site and through you gurus, I felt that I should jump in and TRY it. I was quite scared at first, and made many mistakes, but this is actually quite FUN! I hope to do more in the future and hopefully the quality and workmanship will improve, cause mine is nothing like what you guys have posted :(

But then again, you guys' work are simply amazing! Any comments and advice are greatly welcome, as I am hoping to learn alot about this hobby and hopefully do this car again in the future and compare the before/after progress..Enjoy.

Not bad at all for you first car man!
Theonly thing is try thinner coats of pait nd it will turn out alot better. there are a few lumps that I can see, but nicely done.

Not bad at all, especially for your first kit! erb pretty much said everything I was going to. Keep up the good work!

Good job! Definitely keep trying; it's the only way to improve your skills.

That looks about 100 times better than my first project. Nice work! Did you paint the exterior, or is that the bare plastic?

the base colour was purple...

im having such a difficult time painting whites. I put a couple of base coats, then sanded it down, and it looked good...then i painted it again and it was still ok...then when i had to do the window trims, of course i messed it up so i kept trying to cover each layer's mistake with ANOTHER layer....i think in the future, if i run into stuff like this again, i might as well just get rid of all the paint and start over from scratch again.

speaking of which, is there any substance out there that can take out all the paint and back to its original form to start over from again? Thanks

It looks very good for your first model.You should be proud of what you have achieved on it.Certainly a lot better than my first attempt for sure.If you feel the need to strip back the paint on your future builds if you make a mistake with the painting I would recommend Isopropyl Alcohol (available at most hardware stores or chemists shops) Leave the parts you want to strip in a bath of the stuff for a couple of hours and it softens the paint.You can then remove it with a scrub from an old toothbrush and start the painting again.The good thing with it is it does no harm to the kit plastic.You can also use brake fluid,but I find it makes the plastic brittle in some cases.
