92 f150 sputters

My 92 Ford seems to have trouble accelerating around 30 mph. When I go to accelerate around 30 mph the truck sputters and shakes but still goes. It then will stop shaking and run smooth. The check engine light will sometimes come on which makes the truck shift with a hard jerk but only in first and second. It will also stall at a traffic light unless I put it in neutral or keep the rpms up. If the light is off the truck shifts smoothly and does not stall. Are these related problems?

Pull and fix the trouble codes first. There is something the computer does not like.
