Front Radiator Support

Ok so I got the car basically torn apart. How do I take off the front frame part that holds the radiator? I'm buying a new one this week and need to take it off. Is it welded on?

No its not welded on. My friend just wrecked the front of her car. And bent her support up. It just unbolts.

Shes got a 95 Eclipse, and she told me she had it unbolted. But I quess she was wrong.

After looking at it it's all spot welded on. Im talking the actual frame piece. Everything else just bolted easily.

I've never looked at mine but yeah I'm guessing its spot welded on. I've never done any hard core frame repair like this but sounds like you just need to: Buy a new support, drill out the spot welds on the old one (they make a special tool for that), get the old one off, put the new one on, weld it, paint it. IDK. lol

It's spot welded on David, and you need to get a spot-weld cutter to get it off. Just be careful when cutting out the old welds, because if you go to far, you'e fucked. Take it easy and go slow, it's not a "tough" thing to do, but it definitely takes alot of patience.

I'm taking it to a shop to get done. Don't have any of the tools to do it, and really would rather have professionals doing this. I got quoted around $350 from pics that I sent because I taken everything apart and all. Just going to cut off old one, put new one on, and then paint it and the welds so it don't rust. 1 day to do and dry over night. Not too bad. What you guys think? I have somebody coming out to the house tomorrow for another estimate.

I think that's your best bet, especially with it being an "impact part." If you were to do it yourself and mess something up and happened to get into another accident and the welds don't hold up like they're supposed to, who knows what could happen. Any type of body-welding on cars should always be left to the professionals, or to those with tons of experience.
