Can almost start, squealling

I have a '99 with the 4.0. I went out to start it and it seemed that the battery was dead. Had the battery tested, just fine. So I cranked it over but wouldn't run. So I gave it some gas and it squealed and smelld pretty bad...as soon as I left off the gas it died. And Ideas? Thanks.

Is it getting spark? Start at the crank position sensor. Lots of posts about this.
