i just bought a 1996 ford mustang gt. i didnt find anything at the auction so i went car shopping and almost came home with a jetta vr6. the cars kick ass! the engines stock and really clean to my surprise. the car doesnt have a cat though which isnt a bad thing really. B@M shifter and everything else down to the tranny, also has a flywheel,not sure what brand.ACT cluch too. i love it. anyway, ill will be getting another dsm in the future.

they're really nice, just needs some new bearings or joints. i would get some more pics up but its at my dads house until monday when i get it registered. yeh your right 2500 was a steal. what happened was the car was owned by one of my dads employees, the kid raced the car on the nj turnpike, he won and was coasting down from 120, cop saw him and he got 7 points on license and now he cant afford the insurance, also his dad said he couldnt keep the car and had to sell it this week. so i talked to the kid who orginally wanted 5000 for it but i showed him the 2500 cash and had no choice but to accept cause his dad was over his shoulder! lol i got some kind of luck! this car is immaculate, this kid babied it!

should have bought the vr6, mines only the 12 valve 180 hp, but at 300 pounds i can keep up with the later model gt mustangs so if you had the 24 valve youd kick ass. both are faster than the 96 gt unless you plan on modding it. but thats an awesome find for 2500

dude you really gotta drive it to appreciate it. and i test drove the vr6 twice, i cant drive euro stick, it must be different. the car was jumping like a mother f*cker. i got no problem with japanese imports and american but it was just something about that damn car. and no offense i think these look way better and the parts for it are dirt cheap.i put my eclipse plates on it cause i couldnt wait to take it out and i had my friend in his vr6 by like 3-4 car lengths.

After you tell us the kid was racing it at speeds above 120+ mph...yeah he sure babied it.

First thing is to check if you are loose any coolant.
Second check at the front intake manifold, its plastic or aluminum cross over, 1996-2000 come with plastic intake manifold and it common to crack and leak coolant, so most people went ahead and swap 2001+ PI intake and gain 15hp easy and do PI cam and gain another 15hp, very cheap swap. Im doing it right now and super charge it. the car is not driverable now just like our dsm :wink: . BTW welcome to V8 family :grinyes: .

if its you are one of lucky bastard, I wish my came with swap like that. BTW their are 2 different intake, one is for 96-98 update intake come with aluminum cross over that add no hp, and other is 2001+ intake caller PI ( Performing Intake ) that add 15+ more hp, some people say that you need 2000+ head to do the swap, but I I just use black rtv to fill up the missing gasket part :grinyes: . I been read read alot about this 4.6l mustang, if you have any question that I can answer I will help you out. good luck :wink: . BTW use STRICKLY ROYAL PURPLE OILS ONLY.

yup, thats it! i still gotta check the whole car to see wat the kid did to it already. i gotta change all the filters and shit too. luckily my eclipse cai will fit cause if the way i cut it! the engine is completely stock from what i can see other that the intake manifold, unless it was internal. damn i cant wait till monday, im gonna be the first one at the dmv!

Make sure to put on a flow master or some sorta after market NICE sounding exhaust. I LOVE the sound of a Mustang picking up and going.

shift the car early when rains, not like me, i already get use halling ass in rains on my talon awd, I did the same thing on the mustang and got fish tail and scare the hell out of me and my gf :grinno: . Drive slow in rains cause that model do not have traction control.:banghead: and get your self a winter beater cause u need store that mustang on your garage for winter :wink: .

I would check out bassani exhaust. Probably the best sounding stang exhaust there is, but a bit high priced. On the cheaper end, I had a Mac h-pipe with SLP cat back on my 95 gt and it sounded really mean.

My cobra had Mac x-pipe with Magnaflow exhaust and it sounded good, but I honestly think there are better sounding exhausts for a mustang than Magnaflow.

bassani exhaust sound sick, flow master sound like in the 60 but it will GET RUST :banghead: . if I have 99+ I will go with LSP Loudmouth 2. But I personal like MagnaPack with o/r x pipe.

I had the SLP Loudmouth 2 on my 95. I loved it. Great exhaust.
