about 60 % of the time I turn from a stop, I hear and feel a chattering noise from the bottom of my 02 silverado 2500HD. It feels like something in the suspension or drivetrain is binding up. The truck has 60K on it and it has been doing it for about 6 months now. Im worried it gonna get worse and Im going to get stuck somewhere. Could it be the U joints?

You are going to have to check out what is binding. Lay under and have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth.

its not coming from the steering. it is coming the rear of the truck. its either the suspension , u joints, or rear end I think.

It could be the U joints but why just when turning. Sounds more like the gears in the differntial. I think I would pull the cover and look for metal shavings. If you have limited slip it could be the clutches.

Do you have Posi traction?

I have no idea if I have a posi. The problem or another one got worse the other day. I took off from a dead stop going straight and the truck basically bogged down for a second and then went. it was definitly from something in the drivetrain and NOT engine related. it felt like Ihad the truck in 4WD and the truck was alternating the power to a different wheel. you know that feeling you feel when the tire grabs for second and it inched the truck foward for a second. Well thats what it felt like but only once and only for a splite secong. It did it twice today. it doesnt do it all the time though. I guess I am going tohave to pull the cover and see whats up.
Oh and other then jacking the the truck up, how can I tell if I have the posi traction rear. What is the RPO code for it.
