Vertical Door Hinges!!!!

This is my version of vertical door hinges. They are actually quite easy to make. You just need a few things to make them:

- pencil
- drill with 1/16" drill bit
- sharp hobby knife
- some 1/2" wide brass (usually around foot long)
- some pins
- soldering gun & solder

1. Cut out a long "S" shaped piece of brass for the door part of the hinge and drill a hole in the end.

2. Cut a piece of brass long enough to fit inside the wheel well of the car/truck etc...

3. Cut out the slit in the door jam where the hinge will go with the knife (I heated up the brass with a torch and melted the hole, but cutting a hole will be fine)

4. Tape the door in place on the body and mark down where the hinge will be placed with the pencil.

5. Drill the hole in the flat piece of brass.

6. Bend the pin 110 degrees and put it through the flat piece of brass and "S" shaped hinge and solder it to the flat piece of brass.

7. Then just slide the door onto the hinge and secure it into the inside of the body.

thanks alot u dont know how much i was trying to think of way or the many try's just to make these doors this will be a great help for my wip

Is it stable? Wouldn't the door flap around a bit when open? Seems to me you should wedge the moving plate between two static plates. And instead of a hole you could have a slot to allow the door to be lifted out. Thoughts?

Actually the hinge is quite stable, the pin puts pressure between the hinge and the flat piece of brass. I can position the door at different heights.

I'll give your idea a try too, maybe it'll work better. Thanks for the comments.
