hey yesterday i got my 2000 black jetta gls, manual with black interior.. im going to be doing some stuff to the body and the first thing i figured i could do while i am waiting for my kamei grill and eyelids is take the 'jetta' badge off the back. how do i do this? do i need to take it somewhere to get something this simple done?.. because i heard u can just take it off with like floss, but that might leave it looking shitty.

Heat the badge with a heatgun etc. first.

Ironic you should bring this up!

I will be taking delivery of my fourth Jetta within the next five days.

A GLX.

I will also be removing all insigna from the rear trunk lid. All of it.

The body shop will be doing this and repainting the entire rear deck lid to ensure a uniform and factory fresh look.

If I had the extra bucks, the front grill VW insigna would also go away. It still might.

This requires some expensive custom work, and takes your car to a noticable level.

Keep in mind that you are also depreciating the car's value (further) if you intend to trade it within a reasonable amount of miles.

I put 130,000 miles on all of my Jettas....at a minimun!

the jetta badge is just mounted on there with super strong double sided tape.. you can just get a strip of dental floss, and run it through behind the letters.. then it will just come off, but it will leave some gooey stuff, so you might need the Goof Off additive to scrub the remaining nasty stuff.. hope this helps!

LOL, my friend must be using my profile, he posted the one above this. Actually use the dental floss then 3M makes an adhesive remover squirt some on a rag or on the adhesive itself and let it sit for a couple minutes then wipe it off, if its dull dont use rubbing compound if you've never used it before!!! You can scratch the crap out of your paint if you use a harsh rubbing compound or if you rub to hard you'll make swirls. Mcguires does make a real mild rubbing compound you can try though just make sure to use a soft cloth like a terry cloth or a cloth baby diaper.
