Valve clearance question

I used an impact to get the crank pulley bolt off, later realised that I was spining the crank(very slowly) and not the cams.:uhoh:
The question is:
Is there only a valve damage risk at higher rpms? or did i probably mess some stuff up?
thanks.

This is very difficult to tell because we don't know the timing position the cams are in. If the valves are open and you were able to turn the crank than you could have damaged the valves yes.
You have two options really. You can put everything back together and hope you can put the crank back at the proper timing without further damaging the valves. Then do a compression test, although you could damage your motor more by doing this.
Or you can remove the head and do a visual check.

Hate to break it to ya man, but you can't always tell with a visual check... I had a buddy who bent 4 valves and when he took them out they didn't even look bent. The only certain way to know is to take it to a pro who can pull vacuum on them and tell ya if any of them are bent or not...

Orly? I guess everytime I've bent a valve it's been bad enough to be seen ;) -Cough- one time a few valves fell off.

u say you where taking crank pulley off. how come ?? if you were because of timing belt problems then why not just continue. put a new belt on there only $40 or so & you already started good luck

Uh dude... I think he was planning on doing that AFTER he gets the valve situation taken care of...

I'm doing cam gears, balance shaft elimination, crank pulley. I got it mostly back together.
I took off the crank gear yesterday(with the impact) and woke up in the middle of the night like OH F#@K!!!!!
thanks to everyone for all the help (didn't think about bent valves that you can't see with the naked eye, i will keep that in mind)

he didnt say why & to answer if valves are effected by rpms no they either clear the pistons or not. if you are turning crank freely(tight but with no hang ups) then you're proboly ok

You can risk valve damage at any rpm, but if you were turning the crank slowly with an impact, I'm 99% sure you didn't bend the valves. The bolt would have broke loose before you bent any valves, so you're probably okay.

Got it back together, no spark to the 2 middle cylinders.
(checked plugs and wires, they are fine)
Any idea's
Did I damage cam sensor or would that kill all the spark?
thanks
(just realized i don't have the trigger plate from the back of the intake cam gear on, the new gear doesn't have a place for it? how did you guys do it?)
