99 Venture auto turn on headlights

My van is equiped with an automatic turn on headlights device, is it possible to regulate when the headlights must turn on. The problem is that when I just park under covered parking, in a sunny day, headlights come on. THANKS

Here is a somewhat "low tech" idea.

How about getting one of the super-bright white LEDs, putting in the right resistor so you can power it from 12-14 volts (lighter/power socket), and then mounting it so that it shines on the light sensor (in the middle of the dash.

I would want to test it first to make sure it is the right frequency of light (color), but it sounds simple enough.

On our '01 Silo, we can apply the parking brake which disables the auto light feature for this type of situation.
