How do you launch?

Hey guys this is a noob question but i never learned so someones gotta tell me...How exactly would you launch a 97 SL? I see videos of all these people who jerk off of the line real quick and people say they launch at like 5000RPMs, but I dont understand what that means. A little help, people? thanks

what part of that don't you understand?? get some slicks and launch it hard.. if your on streat tires find a good balance between droping the clutch and feathering the clutch such that your tires don't spin and you dont bog... I can't tell you a good RPM cause honestly I dont know.. most all my cars are AWD.. hehehe

so you actually let off of the clutch while your revving in high rpms? I guess i should've thought of that...well i told you it was a noob question.

does anyone know a good rpm range to launch at?

I would start somewhere around 4k.. (just a guess) and play with it from there.. if you can't help but spin your tires try it at 3500.. if you can feather it out and launch without spinning try it at maybe 4200 and go untill you start spining and back it off a little bit

Since you're FWD, like me, rev up to around 2.5, 3k max, then let the clutch out just enough so that your tires don't spin, then floor it.

I was at the track for the first time a couple weeks ago and I am still very disappointed. I was launching way too high (5k, then 4k, then 3.5k) and I got wheel hop from hell and my tires spun thru 1st and 2nd.
