My last caterham....

Hi friends, this is my last model a very modified http://www.hlj.com/product/TAM10201
I think this is my best of the last years, I mixed a lot of ideas, wide rear tires, cycle fenders, tonneau cover for the co-driver seat, aero screen instead the conventional windshield, which gives a vintage looking.
Also the motor has lot of custom handmade modifications.
All the modifications were scratchbuilt, using plastic, cooper, steel, resin copies and parts of my spare box, no afterparts were used.

I will write an article encouraging Caterham fans to build more customs models.

Terrific model- I like the passenger seat cover and Brooklands windshield.

Damnit I want to build one of these- especially the BDR cycle fender version. I just can't seem to get myself to pay ot the $300 they go for. But I love seeing these builds. It's definately a someday kit for me.

The big problem with customising the Tamiya 1/12 kits is that both versions have incredibly rare engines, so they just wouldn't likely be seen tampered with in the real world. The JPE especially- practically anything done to it would only slow it down. With some care though, the BDR engine could be converted into a terrific Crossflow- the most common Super 7 configuration ever built, and a perfect base for customising.

Hello, in the online issue of Modelersite, there is an article about two Caterhams I buillt several months ago, the article is free, you can read it right now. Now if you are looking for an article which was published 3 years ago, I mean in our back issues you should pay, as any other magazine.

I have asked to TMMI for free backissues but still didn't receive answer :screwy:

Anyway, nobody that has contacted me, by email asking help or pictures or tips etc was ignored. If you really can't pay a PDF, which is the way we can reward the articles we published and pay the people that work at Modelersite, just let me know and I will be happy to give you the article for free, as I have done many times.

The Caterham kit costs US$300 if you get it cheap at eBay, then to pay US$20 an article of 40 pages of text, step by step, with 300 pictures, with all the information plus tips to build several models, I'm talking about a file of 22Mb is what one should expect from a professional magazine. :popcorn:

NO hard feelings at all :nono: just I would like to explain why we do what we do, there is nothing bad or hidden, just a online magazine that works like a paper one, with 10000 times less money in advertising. :runaround:

No one is judging the fact of the payment's articles: it's old though at this point. And some of us already bought, so not matter.

But was you last time in the Guy's thread to show your worst badass side: I guess he forgot an acid smile in the post but for what I know him, he wanted to kick you on those issue.

At last we're happy you share with us your job.

I receive many daily emails, most of them encourage us to go on with the magazine :rofl: but there are others that make me feel angry, so ( I'm latin) at times my messages could sound rough because my spirit is worry, but this is the reason. :screwy:

About Guy’s message: I think that some models should be admired, that thread made some critics that couldn’t be accepted in a model of such quality. :shakehead

I use to see amazing models, most of them have minimal mistakes and/or things that I feel are bad (mine too of course!!!!!) :2cents: but the whole doesn’t deserve a critic, and I never do so.:nono:

I’m always open to receive any kind of critics by private email, but if I show a model I have finished one day before and the only comment a member does is about if the article will be for free…. :popcorn: Then there is a clear intention to kick my ass. :smokin:

That is an amazing build, I love Caterhams don't own one but I have been in a few with different engine configurations, the Duratec 2litre is awesome and the acceleration is out of this world.

Now that would make a nice track day car or club racer! Lovely impeccable build as usual Mario! Can I have one please?

Hi Martin, be sure that if I had one of these I would spend all the Sundays in the track fighting in a club race, I love to see them in Youtube :banghead:

In 82' I was lucky enough to go inside a Lotus 7 a friend of mine had. :runaround: Still remember so exited I was… and still have the pain in the kidneys, :shakehead since then I felt in love with the Lotus 7 and then with Caterhams when in 93’ Tamiya released the kit. :popcorn:

I began to build another one.... please I wish the groupbuild could give me ideas about what could be done, considering that 1/12 Caterham body is mostly made of alu, and is not so easy to modify as the plastic is.:disappoin
