88 s10 electrical issue

I have a 1988 s10 4x4 2.8...... I think I have a short somewhere. It kills when i try to turn the lights on but not all the time. If you rev the truck up and then turn the lights on it will stay running. Also when the truck kills, you'd think that you could just start it back up. But thats not the case. I have no interior lights or nothing, the radio wont even turn on. You turn the key forward to see if the check engine light is on.....its not. Give it all a little while sometimes it takes all night to the next day it will all work again. Starts and all except when you turn the lights on right away(then it dies). But if anyone has any ideas id sure like here of a few.

Start at the battery terminals. look for corrosion and tight. Check both ends of the cables. check all elecrtial connections
