Alarm System, 2000 Taurus SES

I have just purchase a 2000 Taurus SES. The dealer tells me it has an alarm as awell as an immobiliser.
I see how the immobiliser works, but i can't see any alarm. When i lock the doors all the buttons on the doors drop down and if I press lock again on the remote, the horn will sound indicating that all doors and trunk are closed properly, but accoring to the book, not necessarlily alarmed. I opened the trunk after the doors had been locked (waitied 30 mins), no alarm went off.
Has anyone any ideas about this?
