I want to put a new engine in my G.A... now my stock is a 3.0L V6 145-150hp... I would like to know why certain cars newer and older that have 2.5L-2.8L engines are able to leave me choking on dust that Jesus used to kick around... I thought about adding a turbo kit to the new 3.0L V6 I was interested in... would I be wasting my time or is their an alternative to getting an engine with 185 or more horse's???

With the 4 cylinder its lighter and winds out quicker.

The 3L isnt a bad little motor, but looking at your profile it says you have a 97 Grand am, that would be a 3.1 L, totally different engine.

Best thing to free up more ponys is with a CAI,larger TB, custom exhaust, performance heads, headers .
And a supercharger or turbo.
Both hard to find for the 3.1, but they are out there and are not cheap, though it would give you more HP !
