99 Grand Voyager Left Turn Signal Problem

99 Grand Voyager
My left turn signal stopped working over the course of 2-3 days -- it would only work intermittently at first, and I could get it to work sometimes by turning the signal off & then on again. After a couple of days, it stopped functioning entirely. The dash indicator does not come on (my first clue there was a problem), and if I turn the hazards on, only the right side flashes (front, back & dash indicator). I should note that the left running lights do work (same bulb).
I have changed the front signal/running light bulb, checked the fuse (it's fine), opened the plastic housing on the steering column, removed the turn signal/hazard/wiper control assembly & pulled it apart to see if I could find anything obviously wrong with it -- there wasn't, as far as I could see. The only simple part of the system I haven't checked is the rear bulb.
I'd rather not pay someone else to rip out all of the wiring to get to the bottom of this problem, and I will admit that I am not up to the task myself. What else can I check? Is there something obvious here that I am missing?

I had the same problem but on the right side. I checked the fuse under the steering wheel, and it was ok. So I take it to a mechanic, and they tell me it is a wiring issue. I put off fixing it for as long as I can, right? Then one Saturday I checked the fuses for giggles and lo and behold the same fuse that checked out ok the first time is now blown. Swap out the fuse for a new one, it just may be frying on you slowly causing intermittent to full time problems just like mine did. Worked like a charm..... and it's cheap too...:p

It works again! Yes, it was indeed the flasher module. I'm too cheap to buy the repair manual at full price, and they didn't have one for this model at the local used book store. Thanks to all of you who replied -- my wife & I are happy not to have to stick our arms out the window to signal a left turn anymore -- it's been raining too much! Thanks again!

...plus the bugs between the fingers. Hey, thanks for posting the fix. Glad to hear that's all it was.
Alldata.com has factory manuals you can access for a month $15. Think it's $25 for a year. Mitchells also has manuals online. Libraries sometimes have Haynes or Chiltons manuals to sign out.
