Hello,
I have a CD,Cassette,Radio from a 2001 Alero and I am trying to identify the wires. (I would like to install this in a travel trailer). I believe I have identified most of the wires correctly using my GM shop manuals for my 1996 pick-up but there are a few that I can not identify.
Following is what I have come up with so far:
Left front speaker = Tan & Gray
Right front speaker = Lt Green & Dk Green
Left rear speaker = Brown & Yellow
Right rear speaker = Dk Blue & Lt Blue
Ground = Black
Gray = Instrument panel lamp feed
Orange = Fuse out Battery (Hot at all times)
So I am left with a Dk Green, two purple wires, a brown wire and a Black wire with a white stripe.
The one I really need to know about is the wire that is hot when the ignition is in the accessory or the run position.
Would very much appreciate any help identifying these remaining wires.

Hey thank you much for the link (and quick reply!)
They list the yellow wire as the Ignition run/accessory (Same as my GM Manual for 1996 pick-up) but I don't have a yellow wire on this stereo??
I will post on the site you gave me link for and ask there.
Also I have been searching around on the "net" for info (unsuccessful) but I have come across bits and pieces of info that suggest this stereo my need to communicate with the BCM module in order to operate at all, if this is the case I am out of luck as I wanted to install this in a trailer. Any truth to this?
Thanks again for the help so far!!

Honestly I dont think the stereo will work like you want it to, I'm pretty sure it Does need to communicate with the BCM or the security system in general.
Dont hurt to try though :D
I guess if it doesnt work you could sell the stock radio and buy you a aftermarket stereo for your travel trailer.
Good Luck

I did make a post to the site you provided a link for so I guess I will wait and see what I get back from there.
I get the feeling you are right on the money and this thing isn't going to work outside of the Alero.
Oh well, its always worth a shot, and i've learned something in the process.
Thanks again for your help!
I will post back and let you know how it works out

the easiest way to find out is just to hook it up a battery and a speaker before you try and install it. ;)

Well I tried hooking it up to a battery and speakers but I could only get the clock to display and nothing else. There is a theft lock LED that was flashing so I assume someone had entered a code.
Oh well, it would have been nice to get it going but the deck was given to me by my brother in law so I'm not out anything for trying.
Thanks again for the help!
