Ah yes the long awaited Black Pearl F-150 Lightning! To my memory, this project took me somewhere near a month to do, about a week of it waiting for the Equip 19" rims to come in. Typical build, since I've done this kit 5 times before. The body is a bitch to spray because of it being in two parts, and then having to match the darkness on each. Not much
customization made. Sprayed with undercoat of testors metallic Silver, and then top coat of testors "black pearl", and finished off with some fancy equip 19" wheels from hlj. Valve covers and intake painted in testors "blue angel blue", which was the color I originally intended for this model. Realistic rust added around the engine and underside. I hope you guys like it.
Everything laid out to be assembled

Checking the stance it should have

Here you can see some of the rust I added to the various underparts.

Lookin good man! Lookin very good!
I'm gonna build a fully stock one soon, but I prefer the previous gerneration of F-150 to the new ones :D
If you want pics of the engine bay and such, go to this site: www.nloc.net
Very good lightning forum for both generations.

How did I fit the wheels on the rear axle? You can see in this pic that I chopped off 1/8" from each side of the axle, then I glued on the little plastic stubs that come with the wheels.

For the front spindles, I used some epoxy putty to hold them on.

The Lightning is a special version of the F150 made by Ford's SVT (Special vehicles team). It is a 385HP regular cab, short bed, flareside (stepside) truck with a intercooled supercharged 5.4L engine (the revell box says 4.6L, which is wrong), with 18" 5-spoke svt wheels and ground effects. Beefier suspension and special accents here and there to set it off. To record, it's is the fastest production truck on the planet.
:D I'm such a fan of it.

Very nice F-150!
Although I'm absolutely not specialised in American Trucks, I wondered what happened to the rear lights. Did I missed the point or haven't you done them yet.
Anyway, nice build!

looks great. one complaint though, you put rust onto a new vehicle that everything else is in cherry condition. Rust doesn't go well with a perfect truck :D
