I recently took the EGR tube off and cleaned it out and cleaned out the port for the EGR tube at the manifold. After about 5 miles the check engine light came back on. I had the battery out when I did this so I figured that it would erase the code in the computer. Well about a week latter I put in a new speed odometer cable so I again had the battery unhooked to do this also. After installing the new cable I have run the vehicle several hundred miles and the light has stayed off, which is good. I know the cable install had nothing to do with the check engine light staying off, but now it dosn't want to idle when you come to a stop. Before doing the above it idle'd great all the time. It idle's good now when the engine is cold, just acts up after it is warmed up. Anybody have any idea's? Gas milage is great about 35 MPG and run's perfect except the idle. I have changed the fuel and air filter, new plug's, plug wires, dist. cap and rotor botton before all this happened so all of that stuff is good. Any idea's would be a big help!!

Go to this forum and search "idle" and you'll get lots of ideas, Ed

keep in mind that the check engine light will not always come on like you think it should sometimes it takes a specific trigger to get it to come on and you may not hit that for a while.
