Remote keyless entry

My jeep has keyless entry, but only the lock button works (horn honks, doors lock). When I press the unlock button, the lights inside the car come on, but the doors stay locked. Now, I'm assuming that since the lights come on, that means the signal is getting there so its not a problem with the remote, but that's about where my expertise runs out. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Open drivers door and operate remote lock/unlock ect. Sounds like unlocking sequence is out of whack. This may reset it. I have a Viper security system on my other vehicle and this is how I reset it.
Can,t promise u anything it,s just a idea.
Also how new is battery in remote. May be getting weak on open sequence requirements to function correctly.

I have a similar problem with my Jeep Grand '99. The keyless remote will lock but not unlock. Batteries are new. This problem happened last year and disappeared on its own. Now, after a week of rain it started again. I'm thinking it's something other than the remote and am looking for some answers, too.

I actually have the opposite problem. I press the lock button, car beeps, but doesn't actually lock the car. It activates the alarm though, which led me to believe the car was in fact locked, until the other day my girlfriend set it off but still managed to open the door. I asked her how she did that, and it turns out I haven't been actually locking my doors for the past month.
Awesome.
Awesome.

Two things to look for:
The door lock motor can get out of sync due to lack of lubrication of the door lock mechanism.
The button on the remote wear after a lot of use. I used felt pads on mine to get them to respond. Test it with the cover off. This does not apply to all models. Later models tend to have a "lag" of about one second.
