I just recently found out that the intake plenum on my Ranger is cracked. I had a couple questions on the part and repair. First, what is the part called when you look it up? Second, is it that difficult to replace on my own? Also, would anyone happen to know an approximate price for the part? Any info would be appreciated.

By intake plenum I believe you meant intake manifold. I don't know about the 03 Rangers but my 99 has an upper and lower intake manifold. I reolaced the upper due to a leaky O ring. With a cracked intake manifold, you certainly is going to get a Check Engine Light indication. It does not take much to replace the upper intake manifold but perhaps you can try patching it up with epoxy, assuming that the crack is minor, visible and readily accessible.

if you have a cracked intake plenum which should be connected to your air intake. it would probably wouldnt cost you a whole bunch if you went to a scrap yard and for labor not to bad since its on the top but youll need a manual for torque specifications for the bolt. id say if you had barely any car knowledge at all id say 3 hours to take off and put on

OK. Thanks. After reading your guys posts and doing some other research I figured the plenum is just a component that comes on the manifold assembly. Now I have a better idea of what i am up against. Thanks again.
