Around here it's on the empty end of walmart parking lot and in another little strip mall parking lot that is closed by 9 usually...
I can slightly understand the emergency sense of it from the police, but I really doubt theres gonna be an emergency during those hours. As long as they keep it all clean fun as a hangout place then I don't see why it should be a problem. The police should be happy for places like this, cause its keeping young kids/adults out of other trouble like vandalism, theft, underage parties, drugs, etc... I wish we had a bigger group of it around here to keep down on all the other shit that goes on...

Stuff like that's been going on over 20 years. I remember taking some of my cars up on Erie Blvd on the weekends and hanging out at McDonalds, or the Wheel's Auto Supply Store across from the old Hechingers Plaza on the boulevard back in the late '80s/early '90s. I remember the stores didn't like that because they claimed it took away from their business and scared away potential customers.I do know they are cracking down on Thompson Road more since someone got killed there a few years back during a race. Not to sound negative or anything, but I have to agree on some points. The traffic counts have significantly increased in the past decade and there are other , safer places to go with Esta being one, or an abandoned parking lot,(believe me, there are plenty of them in the area:lol:.
It always seems to come down to a few troublemakers spoiling the fun for the rest of them.

There are a few people that hang out in parkin lots and shit. I used to stop by once in a while, most of them where hondas and acuras so I kinda stopped that. We got kicked out of parking lots alot to. The cops would watch it pretty good. They would sit down the road and wait for people to race or drive by fast.
I kinda chilled out on the racing some, I just got 2 tickets in the last 3 weeks for 56 in a 35 and 90 in a 70. Cant afford anymore.

yeah down in south florida i go to a lot of car meets really big ones but they havent gotten to the news yet at least thats what i know like on monday there was this huge one right in front of a blockbuster we filled up the place pretty rapidly and soon the cops went over there and told us we could go down to some other plaza but then later around like 1 am they ended up going over there too and tellin us too leave, like as long as people arent doing stupid shit I think its fine but it seems to piss me off when people do burnouts and speed in a plaza, once in a while they even rent out lots so everybody could go there with out a problem and cops surround the whole place so they even started chargin 2 dollars per car

That's the problem we have every year here in Syracuse during the Syracuse Nationals. People from all over North America come here in mid July for 3 days to show off their pre 1975 vehicles, and there are various activities for the participants. One of them is a Impromptu parade of classic cars that drive down some of the local streets or boulevards. We always seem to get the locals who like to show off their vehicles, mind you they are not registered for the events, and end up causing problems doing burnouts, speeding, racing, and other activities which could put the general public, who watch on the sidelines in danger. The local police agencies have been cracking down pretty good the past 3 years ticketing and towing offending vehicles and violators. It only takes the actions of a few to spoil a fun, family style event such as this, and puts a "black eye" on the area for those visiting the area from out of town, to see.

There's an old Dominicks here that the lot used to be always full, but it's been empty since it went out of business. The Dunkin Donuts here always has old school muscle sitting in it. Cops come by and end up talking about the rides and leave. The street racing has cut down quite a bit here in Chicago. Don't know what happened, but it seems less. Less Ricers too.

 @ cops. If they want a reason to have people leave, it should not be because its impeeding customers from 11pm-4am .
Yeah, we have a few places around here. There is an ACE (which I am pretty sure doesnt care we park there after hours) on the south end of town that people meet at, then sometimes we go drive for a bit. That usually takes us north to the bowling alley/sporting goods stores parking lot, then sometimes over to the Chinese buffet west of there. I would say ACE is the big one though.

If the restaurant owners don't mind them hanging out then theres really nothing that the law can do as long as people don't do dumb shit like doing burnouts and donuts... pretty much anything fun. The only thing that I thought was a bit irresponsible is the garbage that the people leave behind, that's uncalled for...if they are allowed to hang out there then they need to respect the property otherwise they will be kicked out of the parking lot by the restaurant owner.
Back in the day we use to hang out at the end of TOPS parking lot or the end of Walmarts parking lot or even the car wash was and still is a very popular place to hang out. The only time that there was any problems was when someone driving a old muscle car would pull up in front of TOPS(a very commonly hit red light right out front)and they would challenge then make a tiny burnout then they would mis second or something and we would all laugh which would piss them off and then challenge us to a race then blah blah blah.

That's one thing I forgot to mention in my earlier post. In the past there has been a big problem here in Syracuse with the garbage left behind by the ones who hangout at night, and the business owners where the people hangout are straddled with the cleanup costs. I think if the people would cleanup after themselves, they might be more welcome by everybody where they hangout.

There are things like this all the time where I live(York, PA) There has always been a street racing scene here even when my parents where young. Every year there is a Street Rod night here in York, pa. This comes with a car show lasting all weekend during the day and at night just about all the hot rods that come from all over the US go for a cruise. It insane... people come and sit on the side of the road in lawn chairs just to see all the cars. Of course theres burn outs everywhere and racing. I'm sure if you look up York, PA street rod night you will get results.
Other than street rod night every friday and saturday night from around 10pm-3am the regular street racers come out. In the past people used to cruise around a "circuit" that consists of a 2 lane road that circles a part of the city. Latly however the police have cracked down on the circuit pretty hard. So, the place to go is a strip mall parking lot on Route 30. I have seen the parking lot full a couple times(150-200 cars). There is a setup where when we get kicked out of one parking lot we single file cruise to the next one which is just out of jurisdiction for the cops who just kicked us out. Over the past year of going there I have met people from Baltimore/Philly/New York and a bunch of other places to come and check out the scene. I have seen some funny things over just the past year. The one weekend someone got a hold of an old ice-cream truck and put a big OPEN sign on the top of it and used that as the excuse why we were all gathered in a parking lot.
Found a link http://www.nsra-usa.com/east.htm for the actual event held every year.

Sonic, here in SC is our ricer hangout. Everybody that has an Accord with an exhaust chills there. I've only been there twice, but I'd say out of those times, I was in the top 3 fastest cars there. I don't argue about who's faster, and I don't pop my hood for anybody. I tell everybody I'm still stock, which they know is BS because of the exhaust and FMIC. I guess its just my little form of intimidation. Nobody has actually called me out, which is surprising, but if they do, it's always in my talon, which can't even make it to 60 by next year. Anyway, its usually the highschoolers that hang around in that kind of crowd, who don't have the knowledge or money to maintain a fast car. That's why it's so fun to fuck with em.
