1998 Strut replacement

Does anyone have any helpful how-to on this? They're both badly worn out with 112,000 on the car, and the tires are showing wear very quickly from it.

Bad struts are NOT the only factor in tire wear, if at all.
More likly one of the ball joints.
But if you need to replace them, I'd suggest buying a manual for your car, $15-25 at most parts stores.
You will need a coil spring compressor tool and a torque wrench.
Not a real hard job , though harder then changing shocks .

Thanks, I realize struts are not the only factor in tire wear, but they are the problem I have, and thus need to be replaced. I was hoping someone had done this before so I wouldn't have to buy the book.

Oh I've changed over 1000 struts in my days... :disappoin
But I do not know the exact torq specs on your 98'.
Basicly you just jack up the car your going to work on front or rears.
Support the car with jack stands and remove the wheel.
I'd mark the strut-to-steering knuckle bolts by marking around the bolts with paint so they'll line up right when installing the new ones.
Remove those strut-to-knuckle nuts, you'll have to drive the bolts out with a punch and hammer.
Seperate the strut from the steering knuckle.
Dont over extend the CV joints or brake hose, you might have to support the control arm with a jack also.
Support the strut/spring assembly then remove the top 3 nuts.
Thats basicly it other then compressing the spring to remove and the torq specs....
