The air bag sensor light keeps comeing on. Stays on for a few seconds, goes off for a while then comes on again and so on, so on , so on. I was told the sensor in around the front bumper gets oxidized and needs to e cleaned, but I have no idea what I am looking for or where to look.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Before you jump on the sensor have you had the dealer replace the clockspring under the recall for your van? If not, have that done first. It will most likely fix it and oh, it's free.

The clockspring connects the drivers side airbag to the airbag system. It is a coiled wire that stretches and conracts everytime you turn the steering wheel. It's located just behind the drivers airbag in the steering wheel assembly. The failure rate got so high a safety recall was issued for many 96-00 Chrysler minivans. They now are covered under a lifetime warranty.

To make sure your particular van is covered either call your dealership and give them your VIN number or go to the Dodge website (somehwere) and type your VIN number in. You can read all about it at the NHTSA.gov website. It's campaign number 04V480000.

I agree with RIP. Here are some other things that you can check to identify whether or not it is the clockspring.

Does the horn work?
Does your cruise control work
If either of these items fail at the same time the airbag light comes on then you are definately staring at a clockspring problem.

They all use the same ribbon wire within the clockspring to complete their respective circuits.
Check out this web page for more detail http://www.airbagsolutions.com/docs/Clockspring.pdf

Good luck
