Stalling on '99 Accord.. No Speedometer

99 Accord 4cyl Vtech 5spd:

So here's whats happening... the car starts and runs perfect most of the time... but sometimes (more often lately) when I pull up to a light or a stop sign and push the clutch in the RPMs will just drop all the way down and the engine will die. I can start it right back up no problem and be on my way. If I rev it high then let go then the RPM's will drop fast, almost die, then run at a real low idle. What's the deal?

Now just so you know my Speedometer is also not working, Check Engine light is on and the code comes back with 'Check Vehicle Speed Sensor'. Now I know a little about this (I had to replace mine in my '96 Accord) but it's different in this engine right? Would this cause the low idle?

Thanks very much... this has been really buggin me lately and I don't have the funds to take it to someone.

The dealership told me there are 2 separate sensors on this trans? Any info on these? Should I even be looking at the VSS for the idle problem?

What was the code(s)? The two things may not be related, but you never know. If you post the code, we may be able to provide more places to inspect....Glen

The speedometer problem is definitely related to your VSS, and yes there are 2 on the 6th gen accord. One for input, one for output. Another member found that out when his speedometer stopped working recently. The rev problem could be resultant to the VSS or maybe a vacum seal issue. But if it just happens randomly then my guess would be that the speed sensor is likely the root of the problem

Is there an after market place to buy these sensors? Or an idea of the location so I can get them off another car at an junkyard or something? They are like $300 bucks at the dealership!
