So I just put in a new gauge overlay for my car, and when I was doing it the needles on the tachometer and speedometer fell off. I put them back on and then they were all sorts of messed up. So I figured, hey, I'll start the car, then set the needles at 0 MPH, and about 600 RPM (thats about where it idles), so I did that and to my surprise, the tachometer was FIXED! YAY! but uh, the speedometer not so much. I searched around and other people had similar problems but it isn't an issue with the sensor becuase the odometer still clicks along the miles. I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix it if I just broke a component withing the gauge cluster itself, or if that is even possible. Ok, thanks.

normally what people will do is have a friend drive the speed limit next to them, and you just set your speedo to the current speed limit, and that should fix the problem.

I already tried that, like...the needle was working in the morning, then we did that to get it on the right speed. And it just sat there. I is ust hanging out at 25 mph. I took it off and put it back on a few more times but it doesn't move at all anymore. all the other guages still do though

OK, i guess we always try to start with the simplest solution...so i guess I will sound retarded by asking that you make sure that the needle isnt on there too tight, and that there is no sticky anything on the pivot part of the needle...there probably isnt, but hell, it would be a simple fix. Also, make sure you didnt accidentally unplug one of the plugs on the back of the cluster (not sure if it's possible, but I cant remember if there are any outlets back there that might have gotten unplugged without you knowing it. other than that it sounds like your cluster might be fucked (a cluster fuck if you will...lol)
