I have a high pitched noise (shrill sound) when accelerating. It is intermittent. It occurs when the RPM's get above 3000, lasts for 3-4 seconds but stops sooner if I let off on the accelerator. It has occurred since the day I bought it. I've now owned it for 4 months and the sound is sometimes loud and occurring more frequently. I brought it to the dealer twice and they haven't been able to duplicate the sound so they said they couldn't do anything about it. I'm ready to trade it in for another car (not a honda). Anyone hear of this problem?

I have the same problem on my new CRV (less than 1000 miles). It seems to me related to the transmission. I took the car to the dealer. They heard the noise and took the car for repair. They said they suspect some A/C valve and contacted Honda. At the beginning Honda knew nothing; after 9 days Honda admitted they are aware of the problem and working on it. No solution yet but they know it's not a safety issue. I have no clue (and probably neither they) how can they be so sure if they don't know for sure what the problem is. Honda's solution for me is to wait quitely until they'll have a solution. I'm considering a lawsuite.
Here are some tips for increasing the chances to reproduce the noise:
- have 2-3 200 lb passangesr in the car; sand bags will do the same job
- turn A/C on (this is why they suspect the A/C)
- outside temperature below 75
- drive uphill at 65-70 mph and press the gas to keep the RPM around 3500-3700

We have have about 980 miles on CR-V and also have the problem. Will be taking it to the dealer sometime next week, so I will post if I have any different findings.
Other than the noise, we absolutely love the car.

I brought my CRV to the San Diego Mission Valley Honda Dealership due to the continued loud shrill sound when accelerating. It is occurring more frequently and it's louder. They said since they couldn't duplicate it before it would cost me $90 for them to look at it because the manufacturer won't reimburse them for the work unless they duplicate the sound. I refused to pay the $90. They were very unprofessional every time I dealt with them. I then took it to the Carlsbad Hoehn Honda Dealership (about 40 miles from my home). Everyone I dealt with there was totally professional. They had a technician drive with me and he heard the loud sound twice over a 3-4 minute period while driving with me. I left the CRV with them. I was contacted a few hours later and told they me the problem was with the air conditioning evaporator and that they conferred with the manufacturer about it. Apparently, Honda is aware of the problem but there is no fix for it at this time. Yesterday, during a 14 mile drive, I documented the high pitched noise 9 times. It is very distracting to hear this while driving.

We just bought our 07 CR-V a couple of weeks ago. We noticed a sound that occurs just before the car shifts. It sounds like a beeping/ electronic noise. The dealer said they could not find the problem. What should we do and has anyone else heard this noise? Could it be the same noise you guys are hearing-- 6 years EOD my ears aren't all that great.
