Starting problems on a 77

About a week ago I went out and started the car. The car started up right away but had a rough idle like it usually does after not being driven for a few days so I gave it a little gas to get it going better. Well instead of getting better, it shut off. Then when I turned the key again, the engine didnt even turn over. All my dash lights and radio come on, then I turn and it clicks but nothing happens. Could this be a bad fuel pump? If so is it terribly difficult to get to? Or does anyone have any ideas/suggestions for me? Thanks in advance

Not the fuel pump, but it could be the bulkhead connector for the wiring harness (this is where the harness passes through the firewall). Try removing the center bolt (7mm socket) and pulling it off and then putting it back on, then tightening the bolt. Whatever it is, it's definitely electrical in origin.

A bad fuel pump might make it stall (read: WILL make it stall) but it won't prevent the engine from turning over.

Turns out it was the starter. We put in a new one then reconnected the battery and nothing happened. We checked it out again and there was a wire that had came apart so we reconnected it tried to start it and it fired right up! Its such an amazing difference. I think the one thats in there was the original because this one fired it right up no problems
