Another problem on eclipse rs

sometimes if i push the pedal to the floor going up a hill or from a stop my rpm gauge shoots up to about 7 rpm's and comes back down and then my car wont shift. What the fuck is wrong?

Was this posted in Performance to begin with? If so, that would be the wrong subforum. Pretty simple...you even have the word "problem" in your title.
I agree with the diagnosis of malfunctioning torque converter. My oldsmobile did the same thing when I floored it going about 25-30 mph and it tried shifting down to first and just ran the rpm to nearly redline and just sat there.
