Wasnt the blend door

Looked at the operation for getting to blend door actuator to get a good look at it and prayed for something else. Air went from hot to warm but no cold. Self test showed no short or open. Didnt seem like the blend door. Followed steps for checking a/c clutch and nothing. Battery (new was reading 12 .5 volts) and when I loaded it down with fans and lights and ran rpm at 1500 to 2000 there was no increase in voltage. Changed the alternator with regulator
and A/C came right on and got cold. Alternator must have been putting out enough to maintain old battery at about 10 volts but not enough to run compressor. PCM must have sensed it and disallowed the clutch to engage.
Bought Alt at autozone and the first one was the right number on box but had the wrong back(missing third mount hole. 95 amps. Guy at Autozone brought out one for a limo 130 amp that had the right mount but was much bigger and said you have a limo. I asked him if they looked the same to him and he finally agreed they werent. I had him call another store to see if the number they had had the third mounting hole and it did. i guess if the manufacturer has an order for 400 and they have 398 two customers are getting screwed. Let um return it later.

Great story, thanks for sharing :)
I'm in a Mfg / Dist business as well and see these problems all the time 'cept for us the customer gets a $4k set of speakers vs. the $2k set they ordered.
You would think they'd complain about it  , NOT !! :)
