i have a 98 gst eclipse that is running like crap and i cant figure it out. i am a mechanic and its all i do all day but this seems to stump me. first off lets start by saying that i have a aftermarket cold air intake and an OBX BOV but the rest is all stock. i have a CEL for P0120 TPS sensor/circuit A malfunction. i replaced it twice from auto zone and once from the dealer. still have the code. i have replaced the spark plugs 3 times with the NGK and they have been burning out cause im running to rich. i have also replaced the fuel pressure regulator and the ECU. the symptoms of the car are: it boggs down on and lacks power up to 5000 RPM and sometimes wont go over 5000 RPM, hesitates really bad with no power on acceleration. this car varies alot and is not consistant cause it will run like a champ sometimes. i have a boost gauge and it is boosting perfect just no power. i have checked all hoses, vaccume lines, and ohmed all wires and nothing is out of the ordinary. everything is plugged up correctly. i believe it could be another sensor in circuit A causing this and im leaning towards replacing the cam shaft sensor. what else do you think could cause this problem. the CEL is still on for same code and i dont know if its normal or not but at idle it is at 21% load.

Are you venting or recirculating your BOV? My car would hesitate like that on warmer days when it'd be running too rich. If i leaned it out on the afc or waited till night time, it would accelerate perfectly.

would a aftermarket adjustable fuel pressure regulator help? i had it recirculating at the point and it started to act like it does. now i am not recirculating anymore but if i do it doesnt make the difference. the car gets worse as days go by and TPS code will not go away. i thought at first it was in the wiring but i ohmed and it is all fine and the sensors are fine and it is not a hard code right when you turn the car on. i know its not a boost leak cause i just put on my FMIC and its still the same. now my clutch is messing up as well. i dont know if it is a combined prob but i got a new slave and master cylinder and its not leaking anywhere but when the car is warm its extremely stiff and when it cools off there is no clutch. ive bleed it and bleed it but no success. like i said i dont know if they are combined or anything but this car has major problems.

A new FPR wont help you. Go back to recirculating your bov. That could be contributing to the problem. Might want to change your plugs and wires while your at it.

what do you think that i should do about the TPS code though because ive replaced it, it shows correct values, but its still sending the code as its bad. ive replaced 2 times and even once from the dealer. could it possibly be another sensor in this circuit A throwing a TPS or no?

Well i will say that when i vented my BOV (for a day), i got 3-4 codes that popped up. One of which was the TPS. Put the recirculation tube on, cleared the codes and it never came back. Im not saying thats your problem. But, i never had the code until i vented.
Oh and while i had this code, the TPS reading on my SAFC, and data logger were still working, so even if u cant get it to turn off i doubt its hurting anything.
