wiring issue

ok, so, I did all the searching and didn't find out anything about how to fix this little problem I have. So the deal is that I just installed some new gauges overlays on top of my factory gauges, but they need a power source. In the installation directions (which really didn't help all that much anyways), it says that I should connect the power wire to the parking light. I cannot find where this is. The only wires I can even see right now are the ones that go to the dimmer switch, and those are covered by some squishy cloth thing. So, if anyone can help to steer me in the right direction for where to hook the power source up to that would be great. Thanks.

I hooked mine up using a toggle switch spliced into my cig lighter. I used a 2 pole toggle that had the gauges hooked to one end, the power hooked to the other, and the ground from the gauges hooked to one of the bolts for my parking brake. Granted you need to hit a switch to turn on the gauges, but I think it is easier than trying to figure out what wires belong to the parking lights.

thanks for the idea. It sounds pretty solid. I'll let you know how it goes

If you dont mind running a longer wire, Just wire it up to yuo blinker.
you just need to test witch one of the plugs on the conector powers the light when you turn on the headlights and witch one makes it blink. thats how I hooked up my Halos.

I hooked up my halos the same way, but that was really the only solution for up there other than to wire them through the headlight itself, but going through the parking lights will allow you to run your halos when you only have your parking lights on (which I never do)

The best way to hook up an acc like that is via an existing wire. If you have a test light use it to find a wire that has power when the lights are on and none when the lights are off it takes 15 minutes more but you don't have that extra wire hanging around waiting to short out. You can also look at your fuse box and find the location of the fuse for your running lights then pull the bottom of the box off (takes a whole 3 minutes) and find what color the wire is. Then go under the dash and find that wire test it to make sure and splice your acc wire in.... I encourage a quick solder will do the trick...
