Automatic fog lights

When I was spinning wrenches for GM we had customers come in and request to have their fog lights come on auto with the low beam headlights instead of having to hit the button every time.

I cannot remember how we did it, nor can I find it published anywhere. Anybody have an idea?

Connect the fog lamps to the low beams.

There is a function combo you can do that programs the BCM to turn on the fogs when ever the headlights come on. Ive done it many times but cannot remember how. Ive searched online for the instructions but cannot find it anywhere. If anyone knows how or finds it please post it. If I find it I will do the same.

Since you mentioned a BCM and didn't mention year, model, etc maybe you could post that back. Biggest thing, IMO, is to keep the factory fog light wiring system in tact as much as you can. If you can't find out the programming thing with the BCM then wire in the signal from the low beams to the the fog lamp relay engage signal. That way all the fuses for the fog light system are still in tact.

Factory settings have the fogs defalted 'off' when the ignition switch cycles. You have to hit the button to turn them on. The BCM can be programed to change the defalt setting from off to on. I feel like a fruit loop cause I cannot remember.

Im going to call a buddy of mine at an old dealer I worked for on Monday and ask him. I will post it for anyone else that wants to do the same.

The Factory GM setting for Fog lights, as with any manufacturer is crap. I'm not sure about USA Vehicles but, in Canaduh, they won't let you have your Fog lights on with your high beams. Which is absolutely retarded IMO. I've even searched around on the net to no avail.
But I digress.

With my Chevy, mine didn't come with Foggers so I just put a switch in that looks pretty stock where the fog light switch is suppose to go and wired mine to an iginition turned position. IE they only come on when the key is in the ignition. That way they can be on with the Hi or Lo Beams; and I never have to worry about turning them off. I've also got my BCM wired in such a way that all the lights can be in Automatic or Manual control. IE they don't come on whenever "they" feel it's too dark.

I have found kits for that and found wiring diagrams to make all 8 lights come on at the same time! (fog, DRL, high & Low). All I want is when my headlights come on that the fogs defalt on with the low beams instead of having to turn them on everytime myself.

Then I would just run a wire down from the Headlights to the fogs and be done with it. Or Conversely, look under the electrical center on the driverside fenderwell and see if you can figure out which wires need jumping.
