Hey I was wondering if someone could help me, Everytime I turn the wheel and accelerate I get this knocking noise coming from the driver side axle area...I checked it out today and noticed that my boot was torn, I'm not 100% positive if this is my cv boot or not but could this be the problem?

Leigh,
Your outer CV boot is torn. That happened to me to.
I got my CV boots replaced at Silverhill Acura, cost's like $75.00 a side.

i had to replace one of my boots one time, pain in the ass, had to take apart some of the c/v joint to get it on, but i've seen some universal ones that just slip on over the damaged boot it looks pretty easy to do

DO NOT just replace the boot. Your axle is already messed up if it makes the knocking noise. Go to autozone and get yourself a new axle.

yea i know, fuck a year ago I took my car to a garage and said I needed a new CV boot and charged me $75 for the stupid thing and that wasnt even the problem, I think it has been the damn axle all along, I think the cause is my 90 degree driveway

dont call it an axle, its a half shaft. and yes, if it makes the ticking noise, then your CV Joint needs replaced. And like they said, most often, the half shaft is cheaper than a CV Joint. When you replace the half shaft, MAKE SURE YOU DONT GET ANY DIRT ON IT!. that will ruin it.

Autozone $59.99, $50 core charge, lifetime warranty

same EXACT thing happened to me like one week after I bought my 90' civic. Wierd knocking noise, I knew right away it sounded like the axle. Got the car up on jackstands and both the calipers were covered in grease. Both boots torn and from what it looked like it had been that way for awhile. I ended up replacing everything for both sides. ugh...i feel your pain.

you can call them axles or half shafts, the parts store will know what you mean. If it makes noise you need the axle, if it doesnt the boot should work fine.dont be cheap and buy those 2 piece boots youll replace em every month...thier junk...
