New Here/Question

I'm new here, I used to do the yahoo groups but just got alot of BS from them. I heard alot of good stuff about this forum and thought I'd check it out. Here's a quick question I had. I am planning on doing either a B16a or a B18c swap into my '91 hatch. What bolt-ons should I shop for (i.e. headers, intakes), keeping in mind that they are usually listed for the year and model of the car? I'm pretty sure the bolt-ons for a '91 civic hatch wouldn't fit onto the new engine.

Welcome to ou hole in the wall.

As for the bolt on's, I'm not a bseries expert, but you can use the intake for the 91 hatch. :D

Hey, welcome to the board, and i think you should do the basic mods first, like intake, exhaust, headers and of course, fuk emissions, and gut your cat ;)...... then do massive engine work!

hehe use to own a 2nd gen integra :sun:

if i was you and wanted to get a gsr motor, i would just go out and finr a b18a1 or a b18a2 (ls motor) and do a "frankenstein" (when u put a b16 head onto the b18 block). It will cost about $1200 to do but if you do it right you will get aroun 200hp at the wheels!!!!!! you will have to get a b16a ecu or whatever ecu you want that has vtec (b18c1,b18c5,b16a,b16a2,b17a) and then run a "t-tap" off of one of your oil lines to the head.

if you have any questions just ask :)

here's a list of stuff needed for the swap. (just incase you need it)
1.engine complete with head, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and all accesories.
2.Y1,J1,S1,or any B-series cable transmission.
3.PR3 or PW0 ecu (preferred) OBD-1/OBD-2 conversion wiring.
4.EF-18 bolt-in kit
5.90-93 Integra axles, intermediate shaft
6.90-93 Integra throttle cable
7.90-93 Integra driver's side motor mount/ or I have seen other's converted mounts
-Just a suggestion, but while you have the motor out the biggest gains will be seen from internal blueprinting and internal replacements, then header, ect.

by the way, welcome to 4g AF forums.

since u brought up the "frankenstein" swap, i heard they are hella less reliable, like a signifigant amount to where its not recommended to do it, what are your thoughts on that?

See this is one reason I quit the yahoo groups, I asked what year and model parts i should shop for after the swap, and the answers I got were about other stuff, advice on how to do the swap, someone said I should do the mods first then do the swap..... c'mon guys.

its hard to answer your question. b16 or b18 what? different versions came out of different cars.

that is like asking what car does a d16 come in? thats anything from 88 Civic to current....or Del Sol.

granted some of these are harder to get and swap than others...but these are some of the different b series engines

90-91 CRX Si-R (EF-8/9)

B18B
90-91 Integra GS

92-93 Integra GS

B16A2/A3
92-95 Civic VTi

B18B1
94+ Integra LS*
94+ Integra RS*
94+ Integra GS

When are you gonna post some pics of the 88 integra? And some of the SI too, its cool, there are a couple of people who chill here who no longer have civics, or never had em in the first place.

If that person was reffering to internal modifications, then he's right you should. Why do a speed enhancement swap without internal work? Just my opinion but like I said, thats where your going to see the biggest motor gains (Since the motor Is still out of the car). Ami's got a point too I'm not shure what motor your speaking of, If you specify the motor maybe we will be of more help.? :)

Totally guys, I didn't specify what engine I plan on swaping. It will either be a b16a1 or b18c1, those are most in my reach. I was just stating that I didn't ask what engine work I should get done to it or if i should do the frankenstien swap, or for a list of things i need for the swap, but those are the replies I got. I don't mean to be a jack off or anything. Sorry about the missunderstanding.

it's all good :D

so then you would want parts that fit

B16A1
90-91 Civic Si-R (EF-9)
90-91 CRX Si-R (EF-8/9)

B18C1
94+ Integra GS-R

since they are both dohc vtec i would assume most parts fit both engines. header might need to be ported (like you would have to for a d16 header to fit a zc). then again, i could be completely wrong...i'm a d series kinda girl ;)

whatever engine i'm using...i always get intake, header, and exhaust. and i can tell you for sure that d series parts don't fit b series...so don't buy anything else for your d :)

Bolt ons:

B16a

Intake: 88-91 Civic/CRX Si or 1999 Civic Si. The 99 Si intake requires you to relocate your battery.
Header: 94 Del Sol DOHC VTEC or 99 Si or you can go for the JDM ITR 4-1 header..although the 4-1 headers have less ground clearance and therefore they are more likely to get banged up

Exhaust: 88-91 civic hatchback exhaust

B18c/c1:

Intake: going to be a custom fit job due to the design of the gsr intake manifold. The throttelbody is located lower than the one on the b16a so it will be tough to fit the intakes i mentioned before.

Header: 94up Integra GSR header, or the JDM 4-1 header
Exhaust: same as before.

Cams: any VTEC b series cams will work
Cam gears: any VTEC b series cam gears will work

Intake Manifold:

B16a:

Skunk2 b16a manifold
JG B16a manifold

b18c1:

Skunk2 b18c/c1 manifold
JG b18c manifold

HTH:)

Is there anything else in particular that you are looking for??
