Writing this for a friend who asked me to because I'm not a Honda owner.
135K mi on the 1999 CRV and not hard driven at all. Sitting on a very slight incliine and put it in R to back up and it suddenly lunged forward. Say what? On previous occasions it did it a couple times and they let someone else drive and it did it with them to. Not often, but once is often enough. They take it to the Honda place and they keep it a couple days, they go to get it and the svc mgr takes a ride with them and shows them how when you put it in R it jumps into D on an incline. Say what? :slap:

Get this: He says it makes reference to that in the owners manual and not abnormal for CRV to do that. My friend asked me what I think and IMO somebody is full of hooie because that is a BIG safety issue there. I believe NHTSA should be contacted and asked for their input or see if they have heard of such a ridiculious thing. My goodness people, somebody is setting themselves up for a big law suit there. What if it suddenly totally unexpectedly lunges forward and crushes somebodys legs against another car or runs over someone. DUH? runaround

I could go on but I believe I made my point. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing and if so please respond. Love to hear from a Honda mechanic or Honda customer service on this because they are afraid to drive their vehicle and they HAVE made a prudent effort to get it repaired and say they have the service order to prove it. Yes, it has had meticilous care at the Honda dealer and all service & maintenance recommendations adhered to.
