Harmonic Balancer Removal

Can anyone post a picture of the puller used to remove the balancer from a 96 Ranger with a 4 banger. We're having a heck of a time :banghead: because none of the 3 jaw type pullers we get our hands on work and the kits for rent are designed for balancers the have some sort of "hole" to attach to. We're stuck. Thanks.

You should have bolt holes in the balances spokes. This particular balancer has to be pushed against the crank bolt hole. In other words a long bolt with a none threaded tip fits into the hole and pushes against the bottom of the balancer bolt hole(kind of hard to explain) while the bolts that threaded onto the holes on spokes pull the balancer out. Just like a Neon s balancer. I have the tool just don't know how to explain exactly how it works.

In other words the actual crankshaft hole in the balancer is threaded? I did feel in there with my finger, but I will check closer when I go back over there. By the way, the local Ford Dealer said just to wiggle it off.:screwy:

No. Its kind of hard to explain. Try talking to a heavy line tech at a FORD dealer. One with experience preferably he'll be able to help.

I gotchya now. This balancer has no holes in it other that the one the crankshaft fits in. No spokes, no holes, nada. It is completly solid.
