Dash and Keyless entry stopped working.

I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. Yesterday I pulled into a parking lot, turned off the car, went to lock it via keyless and found that it did not work. Furthur investigation I also found my dash lights were not working. A bit of colorful language occured, I went into the store, came back and the keyless worked again and the dash lights were on. The engine light stayed on, but did turn off later in the day. What was that? Thank You.
