Well I took the GTP to the track today. First time since doing the FWI, Intense PCM, and 180 t-stat... I think I'm pretty happy with the results...I really need to work on my lauching skills... Any ideas on what i can do? For some reason I think I launch better when racing on the street at a light...just seems easier. Might just be the pressure of being at the track...

Man, I thought they ran a whole lot better in the quarter...
Anyways, good times (I think? not trying to be offensive, just don't know GTPs), and you probably launch better on the street as your running street tires on an aspahult/concrete compound designed to work with street tires.

Once a GTP has enough supporting mods to be able to run a 3.4 pulley safely they are into the 13's easy. Simple modding does alot for these cars... 500-700 dollars gets you into high 13's easily...

Ehh, I wouldn't say 13's is easy to hit in them. I guess it depends upon what track you go to, and what type of rubber you have on the car. Some guy I know from another board just ran 13's in his Regal GS, and he has the pulley, catback exhaust, some form of cold air intake, programming, headers, and an intercooler. He barely got into the 13's. Then again he was on street tires.
To me they are great sleepers, but typically a well modded mustang or F Body usually doesn't have to worry about getting upset by them. Stock one's are fair pickings though.

High 13's isn't gonna beat a minor bolt on LS1 F Body, or a mustang for that matter. I'm sure those cars listed have more then just a pulley mod, or they are at sea level. I use to go to the track often, and can attest to seeing lots of modded GTP's running low 14's at the track. One was really well known, and he was running high 12's, but that isn't common.
Of course they can be made fast, but everyone I know that had one stated that their tranny was crap. They just don't have a rock solid tranny to work with.

Very true about beating bolt-on LS-1 F-body, but most mustangs besides the new one and the almighty Cobra are not that hard to run with. LS-1's for some reason are the SHIZNIT...
As far as the cars I listed they do have more than a pulley mod. They are all set-up with supporting mods to be able to run the smaller pulley safely, but none of them have bigger cam , intercooler, or anything into the motor. They are basic exhaust and bolt-ons...
Its really not to hard for them to get into high 13's at all. Like I said there are hundreds just like the ones I posted into high 13's and I have been spanke on more than one occasion by the almighty LS-1. Its fun just hearing those things at WOT... Well maybe not WOT because I'm sure it doesnt take that to whip GTP...

when are you launching? IIRC, it was @ 3000 rpms. The track is a lot stickier, try upwards of the 3500-4000 range. Maybe higher if you have stickier street tires. Also try lowering your tire pressure. I don't lower my pressure because I want it to be like as if i was driving on the streets, if ya know what i mean. Hope this helps!

Good runs. Getting good times is not as easy as it looks from what I hear. Im going to try and get to the track in the next few weeks just to see what I can do. My car should run a flat 14 with my mods but I know "I" wont run that. Im hoping for anything in the 14s

If I launched at 3000rpms I dont think my trans would last very long, plus I would be spinning like crazy... I am going to try and launch around 1700-2000 next time I go. I also am going to pull the fuse that will totally disable TM, but I loose my power sterring and anti-lock brakes as well. I hear ppl get pretty good 60's that way...
