I LOVE IT!!!!! It's such a magical time, of course this will be my first winter Christmas, so I will replace beach trips and barbeque with fireplaces and dinner with friends.
Then again I don't have any kids do I?? :D

Yeah, I agree, it isn't same as it used to be. Now it is more about family and the time of the year, Christmas is still my faviorite holiday, but I just assume to sleep in.

Another holiday ruined by capatalism.
There are portions of it that I like, but there are just as many things that I absolutely hate about it.

Apart from the expence of the whole thing i love it.
With a young family i love to see the joy on there faces at Christmas.
Starting from the cutting of the Xmas tree(thanks to the famer down the road who doesnt know it yet) right though to the opening of the presents.
Coming from a large family its about the only time the whole family can get together during the year due to work etc....maybe if it wasnt for the kids i'd think it was a pain.
But a good time for eating and drinking
Dont like the shopping etc as town turns to a mad house. But all mine is done already so that there is no last minute panic.

I really enjoy it. I am not excited about the commercial aspect of it, but I dont begrudge those that are. We put steaks on the grill. Get a pick-up game of hockey. Beer staying chilled in the snowbank. How can you not love that?

I used to love Christmas because I would get to see my family and stuff. But my mom died last year 2 days before Christmas and her funeral was 3 days after. :( I'm not a huge fan of Christmas anymore because of it.

Well let's see... I got pissy-drunk last X-mas eve at my wife's family's giant party, threw up in her aunt's bedroom, gave a lecture on how to give a proper pedicure, drank fine wine and cheap beer, attempted to drive home on the passenger side of the car so i couldn't be considered a drunk driver, fell asleep in some mulch, passed out in the parking lot of our complex, got kicked in the ribs by my lovely wife for embarassing her, yet after all of this I still managed to correctly assemble a bicycle for my son and pass back out before he knew anything at all and save X-mas for my kids!!!:D I love Christmas:rolleyes: Oh yeah, I drank some of the water out of my fishtank.:frog:

Personally, I like christmas, because it is right in the middle of the school holidays, so we usually go away for a week or so. This year we are heading over to Melbourne. The best part is, we are staying in our relatives house, without them being there. :D

i also would like to say that i think it's pathetic of anyone.. i mean anyone.. to put up decorations for chrsitmas.. before thanksgiving..
that's just stupid i'm sorry ...

I like Christmas I really do.
Christmas was the only time as a family that we could all be guaranteed that regardless of the circumstances that we would be home to see the family. Sadly, this won't be the case this year nor was it last year.
In my childhood and adolesence, Christmas was the time I caught up with my extended family @ my grandmother matriarch's home - to share dinner, experiences of the year, news and the love of an extended family.
Over the years, my grandmother passed away and we have all slowly but surely drifted apart so now part of my family is now about as far as humanly possible to be away without entering space.
Christmas as a child seemed to about gifts but it wasn't really. It was the bringing of joy to others because we cared about each other - unfortunately it's taken the absence of others for me to appreciate that.

Town is off-limits 'til January. The gladiatoral pursuit of festive knick-knacks is a bloodsport I would rather not participate in.By January 5th,there may just be enough space within a day's walk of the shops for me to park my car.Pity the poor sods who have to work at the department stores, they don't get paid any extra for dealing with a thousand extra demented women all drooling onto their credit cards every day.Christmas?A day off with family,a few good steaks on the barbie, some crayfish salad and a half-decent cheesecake, keep the presents and the frills, and the godawful television scheduling,I want it SIMPLE this year.:help:
