Washer fluid is leaking

2000 GT

When I park my car now a days, I notice windshield washer fluid leaking onto the ground. It's leaking from the passenger side right below the washer fluid reservoir. Once it all leaked out, my low washer fluid indicator did not come on. I filled it up with washer fluid today & it won't even spray fluid onto the windshield.

What will it take to fix this?

Best thing to do is crawl under the car and inspect the washer fluid reservoir. Look for any damage or cracks. Also, the pump motor has a seal. Another issue is the pump motor housing leaking. Can you tell if the pump is working electrically?

Haven't got under there yet, but all I know is that no fluid is sprayed on the windshield even after filling the reservoir with fluid. I'll try to get under there soon to take a closer look.

I've had to replace the washer pump in various cars I've had. First find out if you are getting power to the pump. If so, then you can buy a replacement pump at a parts store for half the price than from the dealer. The pump will come with a new lock ring and seal. Its possible that either the seal has gone or the supply hose from the pump has become brittle and is broken or cracked. Its a fairly easy and straight forward repair, shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to fix. Good luck.

By turning the wheel all the way to the left, I was able to access the washer pump by removing a few screws on the bumper.

I could see the pump but could not tell how the pump was held in place. If screws are used to hold it in place can anyone tell me the location?

Also, with the washer pump still in place, I could only see a rubber grommet in the shape of an 'L'. This rubber piece was connected to the nipple coming off the washer pump & had a plastic piece in the shape of a cross in the other end (which connected to the long hose going to the top of the reservoir). Is this the seal that others have referred too?

Update:

I bought a new washer pump from Autozone today for around $27 & it took me about 10 min to put in. The new pump solved the issue, now I just have to get the fluid to hit my windshield more, it seems to be hitting the wiper blade.
