Removing bad motor. I have loosened all but the engine to trans bolts. Can,t get to the top ones. How do I get the clearance to get my hands and tools in there? I have the throttle body air plenum removed.

Either drop the transmission tail down or pull the transmission. I usually pull the trans. with the engine. Either way you still have to remove the transfer case first.

I feel sure my 4.2L has crankshaft/rod problems. Can I pull the intake manifold and heads to get clearance to remove the top two engine to trans bolts. Pull the old block. Then intall a remanufactured short block. Bolt it to the trans then install the heads and intake. :grinyes:

Maybe but there is still not much room. Make sure you unbolt the torque converter from the flywheel befor you pull the engine.
