Spark Plug Wires

What aftermarket wires do you all have? I have Accel wires now, and they seem to work well, except they don't stay sealed around the valve cover, although they do stay fine on the sparkplugs. Anyways I want to get new ones that will stay on right, so I don't have to worry about shit getting down inside there, but don't know which ones to buy.

NGK's or OEM work the best, in my opinion.

I have some Blue Accel Wires right now and don't have a problem on fitment, but that doesn't mean yours is fitting right. Other than those, I don't know what to tell you, I have only delt with the OEM ones that were on there and the Accel's, I do know the Accel's helped out a lot, plus new spark plugs

plugs, i have NGK, and for wires, i wanna get the MSD ones, but they are not necessary.... so i think i am gonna go with either some bosch ones or some magnacore ones cause i've heard good things about these wires.....

Have the Accel (in Blue) on the Civic HB and they have been there for 3 years and are tight. The CRX has Blue NGKs and is fine too. Just make sure that the seal is all the way down and do not worry about it.
BTW: I took a set of OEM wires off the CRX that were dated 1989 Sumitomo and they were the original set for the car-before I bought it in March-perfect performance wise.
Stick with any of these 3 and you will be fine.

I have a question. The OEM spark plug wires can't be as good as the aftermarket(Accel, NGK, etc.) can they? I mean they are like half the thickness of the aftermarket ones, not saying that they don't get the job done though.

Unless you are pushin MaD hOrSePoWeR y0! I dont see a real need for aftermarket wires. A new set of OEM's should work, and fit just fine, imo.

But if you have future plans, might as well upgrde now.

Im sure my 90+ hp isnt MaD hOrSePoWeR y0, but i did feel a difference between the OEM and Accels. Could just be my imagination, but I did feel a difference, along with new spark plugs.

You probably had 10+ year old plug wires too, right?

Ractive makes the best spark plug wires. I saw a live demonstration of 5 different wires. Accel, NGK, MSD, magnecore, and bosch. They used a spark machine and hooked up the wires to the sparik plug. The ractives made the brightest and thickest spark and were some of the less expensive ones. I haven't put them on my car yet but after seeing that demo I plan to buy some. Note; If you are all about looks these arent for u they are a mix of red, yellow and green colors.

I think I am running some BOSCH iridium plugs on OEM wires.

We have a winner. Unless your running an aftermarket coil or igintion system, aftermarket wires are useless and might even remove horsepower. Stick with Honda factory ones and you will do fine.

By the way i have proof. A riced out 98 prelude comes in missing and has a noticable losss in power with new plugs and wires. Plugs were NGK and the Wires were i think MSD and the car had only bolt ons. Plugs looked fine and the cap was fine. Replaced wires and the car ran like a champ.

there is a big difference in wires .....just doing a simple resistance test shows alot about a wire and it's potential....get a dvom and check it out for yourself....you will be surprised about those oem wires..

If your still running stock ignition, use the stock wires. They are great wires, when you upgrade your ignition, upgrade your wires then...

How much are the NGK plug wires, and don't they come in all BLUE, I was thinking about getting some and getting DEI spark plug covers in silver so they can look like the Spoon spark plug wires but eventually I'll get the Spoon plug wires but thats until I get the money for the B16A swap.

I have a set of brand new Accel wires, and noticed they sat a little high on the valve cover. Later I checked plug length. The stock NGK plugs were about a 1/4" taller than a set of Bosh Platinum plugs I had (using the shorter of the two terminals supplied with the plugs). I put the Bosh plugs in, and the Accel wires now fit right down against the valve cover.

sparks wire are not going to make any noticeable improvements besides looks. I have a set of the MSD super conducter & they slide off the plugs slightly but stay on, just every time i open the i am pushing them down. NGK wires are good & CHEAP only $19.99 from summit. Nology is making some of the best wires they each have an external ground $150.00 and up for a set.

Okay, this will be my "Newbie" question: Summit?

The reasons I bought the Accel wires were two fold. 1) The have wire in them. I just like the idea of spark plug wire made with wire. :) 2) The Accel wires were cheaper than OEM wires from Honda.

Oh, and I noticed an improvement, but that probably had more to do with the old wires being 14 years old than anything else. ;)
