I have had this car for little while now. I absolutely love it. Just recently I have noticed a hose (leading to the engine) is ruptured on several spots. I am not a mechanic nor I know much about cars. Can someone please let me know what this hose does and how to replace it? Is this an urgent matter? I do not have an actual image of my engine block but I have found this image online. The red arrow points to the hose which needs to be replaced. I included the link below. Thank you very much in advance. All the help is greatly appreciate it.

havent seen that set up but it looks like an air line into the engine. shouldnt be too big of a problem but changing it couldnt hurt. i do believe its a breather hose for cooling issues but i could be wrong .

It could cause an engine light, and poor performance, I'd change it.

Thats the PCV hose. Its a common problem for those to break and spray oil all overo n 1.8t engines. I would replace all the hoses from that one and all the ones attached that go under the intake manifold. Its about 450.00 worth of parts but is well worth it and the engine (and brakes) will work much better. It was a TSB for the passats for oil sludging but not the golf/jettas. You can buy the kit for under the intake manifold called a "brake vacuum pump"
