Hello Together,

you maybe know me as a JDM cars builder from WIP Street.
I really love JDM car kits, but before I have discovered that love I loved American classics and I still have a nice collection of AMT & Revell kits.
Nice chance to get back on them is the 60īs era contest at SPC. 60īs .... sounds good to call it `Gone in 60 Secondsī:lol:

And thatīs my project, AMTīs 67 Shelby GT350 #6633. I loved the movie with Nic. Cage and for sure Eleanore.

This is what I did so far:
Front bumper from Plastruckt square rods and styrene sheets with aluminium tubing for the fog lamps.
Indicators worked into the front by side the head lights.
Removed the grille, door handles, wipers, rear fuel filler cap and fender arches.
Made new arches from Tamy smooth epoxy.
Made side skirts from styrene rods with alu side exhaust.
Opened and reworked the scoops.
Scratchbuild a wheel inlet master from Revellīs Cobra to have real Helibrand Knockoff wheels in 17-18inch.

Still lots of work remains, like the power dome, my own engine set up, rebuild the suspension....

Here some pics, hope you like them:)

Many thanks! :)

You formed those from putty entirely or using a template?

Yes, entirely, after I sanded away the molded arches, I only glued a styrene stripe into the arch, then the 2 component Tamy green smooth epoxy.

do you know if there is a "ELEANOR" trans kit for the amt 67 mustang?

Really interesting!
As I planed to make a Group Build on a french Forum, your work is really interesting.
When we start the GB, can I use the pictures from your WIĻP to put on the French Forum?
Thank you for your answer.

AMT the kit? I had it in my collection for ages and I think AMT has plastic which is really easy to cut. I like other kits more, but some cars are only available in AMT kits. :)

The AMT 67 fast back (the latest release, not the re-issues) is actually a very nice kit. it, imo, is quite correct, or at the very least, one of the most convincing '67 fastback 'stangs out there.

You are doing a great job, Risko! if this turns out half as good as the blue S14, it will indeed be a fantastic build as well. Not only that, but I'll have to get started on my '64 UHH, Elane? convertible 'stang.

Now I really hope the dirty part is over, the primer will show.

The bodywork is finished so far, Iīm tired from the dust. The hood is fished as well, I have glued 1mm styrene along the rear border to have it longer at the front then. Now the hood fits much better :D

Last pics before primer, hope you like, and that I can call it Eleanor. :smokin:

ehh, it's ok. judging by the speed of the body work, I'd say it isn't that difficult to do. I think it's all a hoax, that's just some kind of body kit or something.

haha, j/k friend!

that looks outstanding!!! The front of the hood "bubble" appears to be a bit to steep if you are going for a "correct" build, but it does look good, might be the camera angle.

Defenetily one of my favourite american cars. This is amazing. Even though its not finished I think that right now it looks really good. Maybe because you have not added spokes to the wheels and it looks really deep dish but this is really cool. The body work is so good. I always wonder how you and many people on this forum can get the putty to be so smooth. Anyway REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD!

Thanks very much.

Small repairs, too bad I didn´t buy me a new putty so far, so I had to use the Tamy Basic again... what a pain, it removes the primer and gets hard. Then new putty to the blade and add very quick before it melts the plastic... no fun. :shakehead

Hehe, thanks

No brakes, no time, I donīt really like to repeat same work 20 times :grinno:
No honestly... it took nearly 2 hours and 1 hour after I glued them in place.

Update again,

body is painted, guess with what?
Testorīs metalizer Burnt Metal, itīs tricky, but works wonderful, when nothing is touched before the Sealer for metalizer is sprayed. Once this is done, it could be painted with clear laquer.

This are the first pics, now I have repaired some areas at the stripes, lower window border and right skirt. As next Iīll add BMF matte alu and cover then all in clear cote.

For the stripes at bottom which says which G.T. it is I need to do decals.

Hope you like and enjoy :p

Wow, I love the wheels on the blue convertible!

Thanks, more ref. pics showing more differences to mine, lol.

Now I officially rename this thread into Riskoīs Eleanor

Edit: I think that ^^ car is the prototype of Unique Performanceīs serial production. I borrowed the DVD for reference and I think the movie car has a little bit different colour and different wheels.

I have now over 200 ref. pics of Eleanors and itīs very diffycult to find one of the movie cars:runaround: I thought that Unique only does them and didnīt know about Classic Recreations. The biggest difference what I see is the rear suspension and I think the cars from C.R. are a little bit nicer. What I really like on the C.R. cars is the hood fastenerīs position. I had doubts mine are too far back, but this helped me to feel good about the position I chose.

Other difference on my car will be the wheels. The real Helibrand wheels are 6 spokes and not 5... so, yes, however, my Eleanor:grinyes: No doorhandles, thinner stripes, bigger fuel cap, 6 spoke wheels, rear bumper and engine....
But I hope it will be a nice Shelby E though and everybody likes it

Another problem is that the mold is damaged:disappoin

the wheels do look awesome, and the car is just perfect, not that I didn't expect it. You, my friend, are a truly talented individual.

Hi Ilja,

somehow I missed your last updates.

Once again I must repeat the great work on the body    .

However the grill tears this model down. The rods in the grill are not parallel and bent, looks extemporized to me .

Wheels arenīt bad at first sight, but they seem to have some hard-to-remove air bubbles and - arenīt they a little bit too big compared to the car of the film?

How about the finish? As BMF is already fixed, I guess you cleared the body. Is it already polished?

Risko
08-30-2007, 05:19 AM
Thanks guys,

Rsxse240, these are very nice words, I appreciate it much, thank you:)
But, look at the wheels, mine have 6 spokes, and on the real cars they look like 5 spoke Torque Thrusts which were opened. :grinyes:

Micha, do you know a better solution about the grille? I don´t, so that´s why it is how it is... I coudn´t find in any hobby shop a PE part which looks like a custom Billet grille, I don´t have the idea where to buy a wire which is not bended in a circle:disappoin

The wheels would be 18inch for 1/25. It´s what Pegasus says, you recognise the tires? I like 18-19" on a Mustang... main thing to me it´s smaller than 20"

And yes, it´s clear painted with Humbrol and sanded down again and pre-polished with toothpaste. I still have to add a decal to the lower sides, which says which G.T. it is. Once these are there, it will have some layers of Tamy clear again and will be poslished to shine. The BMF is under the clear, I like it bc it stays then for ever there, and it´s BMF matte Alu, which looks like the regular chrome once it´s added, so the clear makes it looking real matte Alu.

yes, I nearly have bought 3 of the F150 grilles to keep 1 for the bumper and do from the another 2 the grille for the main opening, but I thinked then thatīs too much.:grinno:

I buy rods and tubes (brass, alu, steel, plastic in hobby shops that offer RC-airplanes or in Karlsruhe in a shop that sells material for students to build their architecture models, etc. These tubes / rods come in different sizes and are ca. 1 m long.

The wheels would be 18inch for 1/25. Itīs what Pegasus says, you recognise the tires? I like 18-19" on a Mustang... main thing to me itīs smaller than 20"

No, I donīt know these wheels, I use to measure the wheels by myself, I donīt trust them concerning the diameter printed on the box ;-)) .

And yes, itīs clear painted with Humbrol and sanded down again and pre-polished with toothpaste. I still have to add a decal to the lower sides, which says which G.T. it is. I see, usually BMF is on the clear, I had no problems so far.
I hope you bring lots of shine to the body, I use 2K-clear.

Risko, you are so right about the wheels. You should never have said anything, and no one would have ever noticed! If someone were to tear one of the monogram wheels apart, and use only 5 "spokes" it could be corrected quite easily.

about the guitar string soldering. I don't think it could be done. I mean it COULD be soldered, but I don't think it would hold it's shape well enough to make that grill look right. I'd suggest using the guitar string, and gluing it to a "frame" that is the same shape as the opening, and then hold it in place with epoxy.

Personally, I like the mesh grill like this
