Air Condition/Turn Signal Problem

I have a 92 Thunderbird that gave me quite a scare earlier today. I live in Georgia where the temperatures have been over 100 degrees lately and the humidity is worse. When I got in my car today, the air conditioner would not start. It made a slight, short hiss, but no air came out of the vents. Then, when I made a turn, nothing happened when I turned on the turn signal. I have used the car 3 times since and they both worked. Anyone have any clues as to what might have caused this? Someone had suggested that a wire may have shorted, but I checked the manual and the two components are not controlled by the same fuse. All responses are much appreciated.

Wecome to the forum rollainm. Just a guess but I would start by looking at the connections inside the steering column since the AC needs to have the key on to run and the directional switch is in the column. Have you done any work under the dash like wiring a new radio or speakers? You may have loosened a few connectors.
